The Skeena River is the most productive salmon bearing river in British Columbia. Thousands of years before the first European colonists arrived, it was providing First Nations with food. A week ago, First Nations throughout the Skeena Watershed declared their opposition to the proposed LNG project on Lelu Island, grave lack of consultation and massive damage to salmon habitat.

Enbridge Will not Build the Northern Gateway Pipeline

According to Jessica Clogg, Senior Counsel at West Coast Environmental Law, Enbridge’s recent statement that they had reached agreements with 60% of the tribes along the route of the route is not true. The majority of First Nations are opposed and “Enbridge will not build the Northern Gateway pipeline, regardless of what they decide tomorrow.”
